Questions? We have answers.

Check out the most commonly asked questions from Discount Power customers.

Q: Is it true that Pennywise Power will change its name to Discount Power in the early part of 2019?

A: Yes. Pennywise Power is a fan of Discount Power, its loyal community of customers and its strong presence in Texas. Once the contracts and agreements have been fulfilled, the name change will take place.

Q: Do I need to do anything on my end? Do I need to enroll or switch from Discount Power or will it be automatic?

A: If you’re not enrolled in Autopay, then no. The switch to Pennywise Power will be seamless. There is no action required by you. Discount Power will transition your account in November 2018.

If you have automatic payment set up with Discount Power and you want to continue with Autopay, you will need to re-enroll (at pennywisepower.com/myaccount) for this payment method with Pennywise Power. The service will not automatically transfer.

Q: Will I experience any interruption in my electricity service with the transition?

A: No. The transition to Pennywise Power will not cause a service interruption.

Q: When will my service begin with Pennywise Power and when can I expect my first bill?

A: Discount Power transferred accounts (to Pennywise Power) in November 2018. If you have an email address on file, you will receive notification when service begins with Pennywise Power. If you do not have an email address on file, you will receive your first bill within 45 days after the account transitions.

Q: What will happen to my current pricing plan with Discount Power?

A: It will stay the same. Pennywise Power is honoring all current pricing plans from Discount Power.

Q: Will my current plan change once my account is transferred?

A: No. Your current plan, including your plan expiration date, will remain intact. However, you will have a new account number with Pennywise Power. Your electricity service will be under the same plan term length and rate that you had with Discount Power. The only change will be the name of the plan.

Q: What happens to electronic payments or automatic payments that I’ve set up?

A: This will NOT transfer automatically. If you are on Autopay with Discount Power, you will need to set up Auto Pay separately with Pennywise Power (after your Pennywise Power account has been created*).

Once your Pennywise Power account is established, you may go online to pennywisepower.com/myaccount or call Pennywise at 1-877-455-4674 to have Auto Pay added to your new account.

*If you already have an email address on file, you will receive an email from Pennywise Power with your new account number. Once you receive your new account number, you are ready to set up Auto Pay. If you do not have an email address on file, you will receive your new account number with your first bill from Pennywise Power.

Q: I am enrolled on automatic bill payment through my bank. Do I need to notify them?

A: Yes. You will need to update your payment information per the remittance instructions on your first invoice with Pennywise Power. However, you will need to use your current payment information to pay the last bill you receive from Discount Power.

Q: When can I set up my Pennywise online account management tool?

You will need your new Pennywise Power account number to complete setup. If you already have an email address on file, you will receive an email from Pennywise Power with your new account number. Once you receive your new account number, you are ready to set up Auto Pay.

If you do not have an email address on file, you will receive your new account number with your first bill from Pennywise Power.

Once you receive an email or your first bill, please visit pennywisepower.com/myaccount. Click on the “First time here? Register now” button and complete the enrollment process.

Q: What happens to the credit balance I had with Discount Power?

A: Discount Power will refund your credit balance to you once your account is transferred to Pennywise Power and your Discount Power account has been closed.

Q: What will happen to my Discount Power online bill pay account?

A: Discount Power online bill pay accounts will remain open for a period of time to allow you to pay your final bill and access any previous billing history. Please contact Discount Power for any additional questions regarding online account access.

Q: I promised to make a past-due payment before a certain date in order to not be disconnected. Is that still in order?

A: Yes. In order to avoid disconnect prior to the transfer from Discount Power, you must maintain any previous payment arrangements made with Discount Power. Payment must be made to Discount Power to restore power should your account get disconnected.

Q: Will my account continue on the deferred payment plan I accepted with Discount Power? Will my account still be unable to transfer to another Retail Electric Provider?

A: No. The amount on the deferred payment plan will NOT transfer to Pennywise Power. After your account is transferred from Discount Power, you will receive your last bill from Discount Power, and your entire balance, including the amount that was included in the deferred payment plan, will be due in full at that time. If you have questions about your last bill from Discount Power, please contact Discount Power.

Q: What payment options are available through Pennywise Power?

You may pay your bill by a variety of methods. You may set up automatic bank draft or automatic credit card payments through our online account management tool at www.pennywisepower.com/myaccount. You may also log in and make one-time payments using your bank account information or using your Visa, Mastercard or Discover credit cards. Pennywise Power also accepts payments through our automated phone system or by speaking directly with one of our Customer Care Representatives. You may also mail your payment to the remittance in your monthly statement. Pennywise Power does not accept American Express.

Q: I currently receive my bills from Discount Power via email. Will that continue?

A: Yes. Discount Power will transfer your preferred billing method (eBill notification and/or paper billing) with your account information to Pennywise Power.

Q: What will happen to the deposit I paid when I enrolled with Discount Power?

A: For your convenience, Discount Power will transition all deposits, including accrued interest, to Pennywise Power. This means you will NOT have to pay an additional deposit due to the switch. Your deposit will continue to accrue interest and will be returned after 12 consecutive on-time payments.
